Developing fine motor skills and sensorimotor integration

Shaping sugar paste and creating flower petals is an exciting challenge that helps develop hand-eye coordination, precision and concentration in a fun way. These skills will prove useful not only at school, but in all areas of life.

During the workshop, the children can give free rein to their imagination and create their own colour combinations and flower shapes. Completing this complex task requires focused attention, which improves the ability to concentrate for sustained periods. Following the logical sequence of steps strengthens analytical thinking.

The workshop isn’t just about creating – the children help one another and learn together, enabling them to make friends whilst having fun in a supportive and cheerful environment. Through working on tasks together, the children learn to share information, offer help and give feedback.

The children experience what it feels like when their patience and perseverance pay off, as they return home with a beautiful creation at the end. By accepting and correcting mistakes, their tolerance for frustration increases, and the result achieved at the end of a longer process reinforces their intrinsic motivation.
